How the Savings Works
The figures presented in this table represent a cost allowable (savings) that is built into construction costs. These construction costs include, but are not limited to, running the gas service line from the main to your home, and installing the regulator and meter. Once we receive the Load Letter from your HVAC Contractor, the details will be evaluated to determine if you will owe a contribution for your construction costs. Your savings are automatically built in to your contribution total. If you owe a contribution, your contribution total will be printed on the Commitment Letter you will receive in the mail. There are no additional savings applied beyond this point. The maximum cost allowance at this time is $1,400.
- Ex: If you wish to convert home heating and your construction costs are $2,500, a $1,400 credit is applied, resulting in a contribution of $1,100. This is the dollar amount that will appear on your Commitment Letter.
- Ex: If you wish to convert a Range and Dryer, and your construction costs are $5,000, a $525 credit is applied, resulting in a contribution of $4,475. This is the dollar amount that will appear on your Commitment Letter.
If you do not owe a contribution, it means that your construction costs plus the savings allotted for the appliances you are converting cancelled out, resulting in a $0 contribution. There are no refunds or credits given in this instance. You will still receive a Commitment Letter indicating that total amount owed is $0.
- Ex: If you wish to convert home heating and your construction costs are $1,400, a $1,400 credit is applied, resulting in a contribution of $0. This is the dollar amount that will appear on your Commitment Letter.
- Ex: If you wish to convert home heating and your construction costs are $800, an $800 credit is applied, resulting in a contribution of $0. This is the dollar amount that will appear on your Commitment Letter. Please Note: You will not receive a refund for the remaining $600.
In either of these instances, the Commitment Letter must be signed and returned to Washington Gas before your construction date can be set.
